CBD For Pets
I walked into the pet store chain Pet Life the other day, and there it was. CBD for pets. I couldn't believe it.
Just a brain/thought dump on this post. I guess I've been a bit behind the curve in the CBD pet industry. Since when did national chains start carrying CBD for pets? Its amazing! I'm psyched. It's almost as if I felt a sigh of relief. I know that CBD has been used on our pets for a long time now, but I didn't know the products were in just about EVERY pet store chain.
I then started Googling CBD oil for pets, and again was a bit surprised at the amount of corporate companies selling CBD online. I then started wondering how I felt about this. As if our precious CBD is being exploited by corporate fat cats, pun intended. It was that feeling of finding myself on the side of the majority, which for me usually means its time to pause and reflect (Mark Twain). But it's inevitable. Big box stores will be in the equation.
I get a lot of questions from startup CBD companies in regards to the pet products. I'm currently looking to expand my pet offerings (Anyone out there a supplier!?!? Talking with many). We currently only offer pet tinctures and pet pills. Finding a consistent CBD pet treat supplier has proven difficult. We hold a high standard. CBD works so amazing for our aging furry friends, we only want to supply the best possible products.
Giving CBD to your pets is exactly the same as humans, just less of it. Dogs and cats need way less then we do, .068 mg per pound in dosing is typical. Horses take huge doses. Same as humans, the larger we are typically the more we need. CBD is most often used in our pets to treat the following
- Pain (e.g., arthritis, bone pain)
- Anxiety (e.g., separation, loud noises, fireworks, travel, crowds)
- Nausea and vomiting
- Loss of appetite
- Seizures, convulsions, and muscle spasms
