CBD For Dogs
Cannabidiol (CBD) Is Gaining A Lot Of Attention From Professional Veterinary Groups.
Colorado State University recently conducted a study on the effect of CBD in dogs with epilepsy and the results proved its effectiveness. CSU unequivocally concluded that CBD significantly reduces the frequency of seizures in epileptic dogs. No surprise here. We have seen the effectiveness of CBD on humans for years, so why wouldn't it work on dogs? Epilepsy is more common in dogs than humans, because of this more attention should be paid to CBD for our pets. Just about all of our clients have a line of CBD products for pets with dogs and cats seem to be the largest market for sure.
Recently one of the CSU researchers spoke at a veterinary medical conference regarding their findings. The conference was packed, standing room only! That kind of attention to CBD for pets from professional vet associations gets us stoked. You can find CBD in chain pet stores down to local cannabis caregivers in medical states. We know CBD's effectiveness, hearing that others are open to learning is wonderful.
No different then in humans, scientists have been searching for a more effective treatment for epilepsy in canines than existing pharmaceuticals. Also as in humans, these medications have nasty, unavoidable side effects. They've recently turned to studying CBD in dogs.
CSU studied 16 dogs with epilepsy. 90% of these dogs had fewer seizures when taking CBD oil, as compared to about 20 percent on placebo. Now, thats not a lot of dogs, but its undeniable that the CBD worked. There will need to be a larger study performed in order to actually publish something, but CSU recently received a grant to do so!
